About Me

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
–Romans 1:16

Who am I?

Good question.

It is a question I have been trying to answer – well – all of my life. Until now, I have resisted creating this page, this About Me page. The reason? I am not sure. I think the reason is that I have always resisted labeling myself. Silly I know, but in our world today, everything is about labels. You are either conservative or liberal. You are either catholic or protestant, religious or atheist. We are identified by our nationality, ethnicity, home town, school, you name it. I have always felt that as human beings moving through this earthly life, we are much more alike than we could ever be different. Yet the labels we use to identify ourselves and others, they are used all too often to divide us rather than to join us together.

Yet there is one label I don’t mind. There is one that not only do I invite, but I fully embrace, and will never apologize for or deny.

Christian.

So what is this blog about? It is about a Christian in America, trying to live his life honoring the one who granted eternal life. Each and every blog post, while it may or may not have to do with Christianity directly, will seek to honor God. With that said, my posts will always be about my life from a Christian point of view. I talk about my family, my friends, my world, and most of all, my God, the one true God.

As for specifics about me, I am a middle-aged, married man. I was born in this country, from Cuban parents. While I embrace my Cuban roots, and may from time to time write about Cuba and Cubans, I consider myself American first and foremost. Being brought up in a Cuban family, my family life was rich with both American and Cuban traditions, and that will definitely come out in my writing from time to time.

Because my writing has a definite Christian perspective, and I seek to honor God, please know that although I welcome comments and criticism, there are certain comments I will not approve. Any comments that include vulgar content will not be allowed. In addition, although I have no issue with criticism of Christianity per se, I will not allow my blog to be used as a platform for those who have anger and resentment towards Christians, or Christianity. I will allow your comments unless and until I realize that your sole purpose is to use my blog to vent that anger or resentment. I respectfully request that if this is your purpose, that you choose to create your own blog rather than use mine for that purpose.

I would like to thank those readers that so far have been so supportive and complimentary of my posts. I encourage all of you to please let me know how I am doing, and let me know if there is a topic you would like me to write about in the future.

God Bless!

  2. I haven’t seen any recent posts from you in a while, and if you’ve made them, I can’t find them. I guess, what I’m trying to say, is that I’m just checking on you. Looks you dropped off in September. I don’t know you, but am concerned anyway. If this message finds you well, you should start writing again…you put out some good nibbles of spiritual nourishment 😉
